Joel Thomas Bowes

JOEL THOMAS BOWES, age 71, of Roxboro, NC passed away peacefully Saturday morning, February 24, 2024 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Bowes was born March 24, 1952 in Person County, NC, son of the late Monroe Douglas & Mary Belle Walker Bowes and was husband to the late Elizabeth Walker Bowes.  He was previously employed with Collins & Aikman Corp. and was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.

Joel enjoyed fishing, going to car races, watching westerns, and spending time with his children.

Surviving are two children, Neal Thomas Bowes, Tina Faye Bowes, sister, Mary B. Bowling, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Bowes is preceded in death by three brothers, Edmond Walker, Birch Bowes, and Wayne Bowes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Ephesus Baptist Church with Pastor David Bunch officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of Mary Bowling, 345 Gravitte Road, Roxboro, NC.

Pallbearers will be Jackson Barts, Tyler Barts, Stratton Blanks, Chris Bowes, Marcus Bowes, Rodney Bowes, Zach Bowes, and Brandon Bumpass.
