WINFRED CARLTON “WIMP” CLAYTON age 81, of 3323 Jim Thorpe Highway, Roxboro, NC died Friday morning, July 30, 2021 at Duke Regional Hospital.
Mr. Clayton was born July 1, 1940 in Person County, NC, son of the late Carlton & May Wrenn Clayton and was husband of 52 years to Rose Ellen Yancey Clayton who survives. He was retired from Sprint after 35 years of service, was a member of the Person County Elks Lodge, and was a member of Theresa Baptist Church. Wimp enjoyed golfing, bowling, yard work, and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Dana C. Waldkirch & husband, Brad of Wilmington, NC, Samuel Powell & wife, Kim of Roxboro, NC, five grandchildren, Bentley Waldkirch, Ashley Powell, Blake Powell, Brittany Powell, Austin Powell, two sisters, Helen Jones & husband, Ira, Jeanette Gentry & husband, Felix all of Roxboro, NC, and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Mr. Clayton is preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Clayton, Riley Clayton, and Raymond Love Clayton.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at a later date.
