Willie Alma (Oakley) Suitt

WILLIE ALMA OAKLEY SUITT, age 90, of Roxboro, NC passed away peacefully Saturday morning, November 25, 2023 at her home.

Mrs. Suitt was born October 10, 1933 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late John William Oakley, Sr. & Gracie Alma Clayton Oakley and was wife of 52 years to the late Arch Mason Suitt.  She was a homemaker and was a member of Theresa Baptist Church.

Willie enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, making flower arrangements, and loved her dog Sampson, but her greatest joy was her granddaughters.

Surviving are two daughters, JoAnn S. Puryear & husband, Kevin, Karen S. Trickey & husband, David all of Roxboro, NC, four granddaughters, Taylor Anne Puryear, Kayleigh Davidson Trickey, Jordan Elizabeth Owens & husband, Blake, Caroline Dayle Puryear, sister, Barbara O. Loftis, brother, Carl Oakley & wife, Lillian, sister-in-law, Marie Oakley, and a host of nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Suitt is preceded in death by sisters, Margaret O’Briant, Christine Oakley, Lucille Eastwood Turner, Evon Duncan, Virginia Clayton, Sue Latta, brothers, James Oakley, J.W. Oakley, Jr., Raymond Oakley, and Lex Samuel Oakley. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2023 at Theresa Baptist Church with Rev. Herbert Brown, and Rev. Marvin Suitt officiating.  Interment will follow in the Oakley Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home, 611 City Lake Road, Roxboro, NC.

Pallbearers will be Houston Hamilton, Aaron Hardy, Henry Loftis, Blake Owens, Bruce Stone, and Douglas Weaver, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Clayton, Doug Latta, Jr., Adam Oakley, Greg Oakley, and Johnny Oakley.
