William Reid Rogers

WILLIAM REID ROGERS age 80, of 55 Bessie Daniel Road, Roxboro, NC died Friday morning, July 9, 2021 at Addison of Durham.

Mr. Rogers was born September 1, 1940 in Person County, NC, son of the late Elmo Wilkerson Rogers & Geraldine Rachel Clayton Rogers and was husband of nearly 51 years to Janice Delma Lowe Rogers who survives. He graduated high school in Burlington, NC and attended college at East Carolina University and Goldy Beacom Community College. He spent most of his career in the food service as manager of cafeterias and restaurants in Cincinnati, OH, Northern Virginia, Eastern Shore, MD, and Raleigh, NC and then retired from the Person County School System.  He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the US Army where he served during the Vietnam era.  Reid enjoyed hunting deer, geese, and ducks, and spending time with his family. 

While in Trappe, MD he served as Lions Club President, Sunday School Superintendent, Little League Baseball Rep., Youth Leader, and the President of the Child Nutrition Assoc. of Person County.  Reid loved his family and all of the children at North End Elementary School where he was known by those children as Pop Pop.  He was a very outgoing, socialite person and loved the Lord.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Rob Rogers & wife, Ginger of Roxboro, NC, Ryan Rogers & wife, Jan of Trappe, MD, Renee Rogers Smith of Roxboro, NC, ten grandchildren, Tanner, Tolon, Sarah, Laura, and Reid Rogers, Stephanie Whalley, Brooke and Katie Ward, Carson and Morgan Wilborn. 

In addition to his parents Mr. Rogers is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank & Mary Rogers.  

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church with Dr. M. David Chambers officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
