Ted Malloy Gentry

TED MALLOY GENTRY, age 88, of 1354 Gentry Dunkley Road, Roxboro, NC passed away Friday afternoon, October 18, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Gentry was born October 14, 1931 in Person County, NC, son of the late Giles Merritt & Evelyn Gertrude Gentry and was husband of 69 years to Helen Hall Gentry who survives.  He was retired as a former partner of A&T Sales and was a life long member of Allensville United Methodist Church.

Mr. Gentry enjoyed fishing, wood working, his dogs, and tending to his garden where he would grow outstanding tomatoes and give them away. 

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son-in-law, David Osborne Oakley, sister, Louise G. Vaughan, two granddaughters, Michelle Oakley Lancaster of Moyock, NC, Lauren Oakley Guess & husband, Raymond of Chesapeake, VA, three great grandchildren, Amber Lynn Grzanka & husband, Steve, Tyler Lancaster & wife, Alexis, Chance Grayson Guess, and great-great grandson, Liam Malloy Grzanka.  A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gentry is preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Gentry Oakley, two brothers, Merritt Gentry, Ab Gentry, two sisters, Evelyn Ray Gentry, and Lindy Ann Coates.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2019 at Allensville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lindsey Collins and the Rev. Jack Ruth officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home. 

Pallbearers will be Gregg Foushee, Belvin Gentry, Rick Gentry, Phillip Gillis, Danny Hicks, and Ray Perkins.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to Allensville United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 80 Dirgie Mine Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
