Sylvia Jane (Oakley) Snoddy

SYLVIA JANE OAKLEY SNODDY, age 73, of Virgilina, VA passed away Thursday afternoon, February 12, 2026 at her home. Born May 20, 1952 in Person Co., NC, daughter of the late Alva Clinton & Adell Clayton Oakley and was wife of the late Barney Snoddy.  She was previously employed by Wal Mart and was of the Baptist faith.

Jane never met a stranger.  She enjoyed playing softball in her younger years, watching game shows, and was an avid Tar Heel fan.

Surviving are her siblings, Nancy Morris, Randall Wayne Oakley, A.C. Oakley, Jr., David Dwight Oakley & wife, Shirley, Darlene Gail Fitch & husband, Steve, Richard Ray Oakley (Wendy Kerr), Wanda Oakley Whitfield & husband, William, pet cat, Babe, and a host of niece, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Snoddy is preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Oakley Lee, and brother, Donald Kirk Oakley.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Ian Rigney officiating.  The family will have a private interment at a later date in the Virgilina Cemetery.
