Shirley Reaves Obituary
SHIRLEY VIRGINIA BOWES REAVES age 79, of 571 Woody’s Store Road, Roxboro, NC died Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2018 at Danville Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Reaves was born September 25, 1939 in Halifax County, VA, daughter of the late Ed Luther & Sallie Jane Briggs Bowes and was wife the late Burley Thomas Reaves. She was retired from Longhurst Cotton Mill, was owner of the former Roxboro Taxi, worked for the former Sunshine Cleaning Services and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are three children, Joyce R. Bowes, James Reaves, Norma R. Bailey & husband, James all of Roxboro, NC, sister, Nellie Bet Bowes of Roxboro, NC, companion of 40 years, Dennis Bliss, six grandchildren, Alton Walker & wife, Kristen, Cale Walker & wife, Jennifer, Shane Walker & wife, Kim, Jenny Lynn George, Misty Ann Reaves, Anthony Bohanon, and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Reaves is preceded in death by a daughter, Nora Lee Bohanon, great granddaughter, Jaden Nicole Walker, five sisters, Betty Jean Walker, Henrietta Tuck, Ava Marie West, Jerline Bowes, Peggy Clower, five brothers, Jerry Bowes, Monroe Bowes, Clyde Bowes, Bruce Bowes, and Paul Bowes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Michael Shytle and Ridge Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Dunn section of Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 at the funeral home and other times at the home of Shane & Kim Walker, 1407 Willow Street, Roxboro, NC.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Bowes, Ethan Cozart, Dustin Howell, Cale Walker, Calin Walker, and Shane Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Alton Walker and Ridge Walker.
