Shirley Faye (Solomon) Hamlett

SHIRLEY FAYE SOLOMON HAMLETT age 85, of 901 Ridge Road, Roxboro, NC died Sunday morning, March 8, 2020 at Roxboro Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Hamlett was born September 1, 1934, in Person County, NC daughter of the late John Shaub Paul Solomon & Edith Virginia Solmon Solomon. She retired in 1995 from Pulley, Watson, King, and Lischer Law Firm, previously worked for the Jackson & Hicks Law Firm, served as Vice President of the Roxboro Garden Club from 1998 – 1999, was former treasurer of The Family Pool, was a member of Warren’s Grove United Methodist Church, and was a former member of Brooksdale United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and played the piano.  Shirley enjoyed playing the piano, reading, tending to her flowers, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are three children, Kenneth “Ken” Hamlett & wife, Michelle of Temple Terrace, FL, Michael Hamlett & wife, Jeanne of Raleigh, NC, Dana H. Woodham of Roxboro, NC, seven grandchildren, Ashley Wilcox & husband, John, Bryan Hamlett, Andrew Hamlett & wife, Maria, Ignacio Oteiza, Beatrice Hamlett, Kaitlyn Hamlett, Sommer Woodham, five great grandchildren, Michael Christian Hamlett, Lily Wilcox, Violet Wilcox, Juniper Wilcox, Primrose Wilcox, three sisters, Corrine S. Logan, Loula S. Conques & husband, Duane, and Vicki S. Clark & husband, Ken.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Hamlett is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane S. Parks, Pauline S. Weddle, and brother, Samuel S. Solomon.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 at Warren’s Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ann Benson and Pastor Casey Adams officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests Friday, March 13, 2020 from 12:30 till 1:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Roxboro Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center Activity Fund, 901 Ridge Road, Roxboro, NC 27573 or to the Warren’s Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1511 Wesleyan Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
