Rosalind Ann (Wagner) Melton

ROSALIND ANN WAGNER MELTON age 80, of 7388 Dirgie Mine Road, Roxboro, NC died Thursday night, November 24, 2022. Mrs. Melton was born April 29, 1942 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Silas Hayes Wagner, Sr. and Annie Sue Morris Wagner Stevens and Joseph “Joe” Stevens. She was wife of 58 years to Lawrence Wayne Melton, Sr., who survives.

Prior to retirement she was a business owner of Virginia-Carolina Electronics and also worked for Burlington Industries and Libby’s Tax Service. She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Andrew Stevens Melton, Brian Wayne Melton; step-children, Vivian Melton Thompson, Lawrence Wayne “Larry” Melton, Jr. (Angie Mooney); siblings, Hayes Wagner, Jr. (Mary), Stella W. Dickerson, JoAnne S. Hayeck (Elie), Mike Stevens (Patty), Mark Stevens (Nancy), Kaye S. Tuck (Ralph); sister-in-law, Hilda Jean M. Wrenn (John); brother-in-law, Cecil Melton (Carolyn); step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, William Thompson (Jennifer), Doug Thompson (Jenna), Jennifer Thompson (Kyle), Ashley Litchfield, Heather Ellington (Andy), Taylor Potts (Michael), Bryce Thompson, Norah Thompson, Juniper Bailey, Cooper Ellington, Easton Ellington, Lucas Potts, and Carter Potts; and friend Faye G. Whitfield.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Melton is preceded in death by a daughter, Alesia Gail Melton; brother-in-law, Joel Wayne Dickerson; and life-long friend, Elizabeth “Libby” Whitlow.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at Olive Branch Baptist Church with Matthew Rich and Rev. Dave Cline officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 1:00 until 2:00 at the church prior to the service, and at other times at the home of Matthew and Kimberly Rich, 5231 Red Bank Road, Virgilina, VA.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Tuck II, Adam Austin, Winfred Wagner, Greg Stevens, Jeff Stevens, Doug Pulliam, Carl Boyd, and Randall Sanford.  Honorary pallbearers will be David Dickerson, Tony Dickerson, Damien Hayeck, Tristan Hayeck, Anthony Melton, Corey Melton, Lacy Morris, Brian Bradsher, and Austin Kendricks.

She deeply loved all of her nieces and nephews and greats and great-greats, traveling to ball games and special events near and far. She was a lifetime lover of baseball, road trips, and Elvis.
