Rollie Dee Long

ROLLIE DEE LONG, age 81, of Roxboro, NC passed away Sunday night, December 29, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

Mr. Long was born March 8, 1943 in Person County, NC, son of the late Clemon Dee & Hurley Mae Holt Long and was husband of 60 years to Linda Carol Clayton Long who survives.  He was retired from Long Brothers Masonry after 60 years and was a member of Oak Grove Church of Roxboro and also the Woodsdale Hunting Club.

Rollie Dee enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker, softball, Rook, watching westerns, dancing, being a dad, spoiling Linda, spending time with family & friends, and was an avid Washington Redskins and North Carolina Tar Heel fan.   

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Wendy Dee Long Tingen, two grandsons, Austin Dee Tingen, Jordan Wayne Tingen & wife, Spencer, sisters, Ann L. Pergerson, Angela L. Solomon, brother, Rudy Long & wife, Margaret, and his pet Yorkie, Reese.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Long is preceded in death by a sister, Alma Sue Clayton, brother, Larry Timothy Long, and son-in-law, Donald Wayne Tingen.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2025 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating.  Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Clayton, Randy Gravitte, Tim Holt, Tanner Kendrick, Tracey Kendrick, Kendall Long, Zack Long, Dennis Pergerson, and James Solomon.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Woodsdale Hunting Club.
