Robert Eggert Obituary

ROBERT LEWIS EGGERT, age 71, of Roxboro, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Sovah Health Hospital in Danville, Virginia.

He was born November 11, 1953 in Mishawaka, Indiana, and grew up in nearby South Bend, son of the late Eugene Lewis & Evelyn Vergie Allen Eggert and was husband of nearly 39 years to Dale Marie Oliver Eggert who survives.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his fur baby, Junior, brother, Don Eggert and wife, Rev. Sue Amyx-Eggert of Shallotte, North Carolina.

Robert was a 1971 graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School in South Bend, IN.

Prior to retirement from Rose’s, Robert was employed with Coca Cola of Roxboro where he made many friends while delivering to the country stores.  He enjoyed antique cars and talking about cars, going to concerts, grilling, gardening, volunteering for blood drives at UNC, Duke University, Appalachian State, and Martinsville Speedway, and community events like Personality Fire Prevention Day, National Night Out, Family Day at Fort Bragg, Community Dinner at Myrtle Beach for those who didn’t want to spend Christmas alone which became a Christmas tradition for him and Dale.  He loved to cook.  When blood donors learned he would be making his famous stew, they made sure they made an appointment for that drive.

He had a high interest in the weather. He told his brother Don that he had three weather apps on his smartphone and that the Weather Channel was one of his favorite channels. He got a Weather Channel hat as a gift from his brother.

He was also a big NASCAR fan, going to races in Rockingham, NC and Martinsville, VA (his favorite track). Richard Petty was his favorite driver, and he was an avid UNC Tar Heel fan.

No services are planned.
