Peggy Louise (Walker) Poole

PEGGY LOUISE WALKER POOLE, age 85, formerly of 213 Edgar Street, Roxboro, NC died Monday morning, January 25, 2021 at Roxboro Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Poole was born December 3, 1935 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Eddie & Elizabeth Caroline Bowes Walker and was wife of 50 years to the late Victor William Poole.  She was retired from Tultex Industries and was a member of Grace Cavel United Methodist Church where she served as secretary of the United Methodist Women, treasurer of her Sunday School class, member of the choir, and various other committees.

Peggy was devoted to serving her family, community, and her church. 

Surviving are two daughters, Karen Poole Dawkins of Durham, NC, Sharon Kaye Poole & partner, Cindy Dilks of Whisett, NC, two grandchildren, Zachary Dawkins & fiancée, Carah Reid of Raleigh, NC, Kelsey Dawkins & significant other, Davon McKoy of Roxboro, NC, great granddaughter, Kya Elizabeth McKoy, special niece, Debra Noell, and a host of other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Poole is preceded in death by five sisters, Odell Hawkins, Mary Hubbard, Ann Wilson, Mamie Maude Holder, Willow Ree Roberson, and brother, Samuel Walker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Hawkins, Rev. Darcey Knight, and Karen Poole Dawkins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Burchwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  

Pallbearers will be Tony Cole, Ricky Hargis, Kenneth Hicks, Donnie Hubbard, Steve Lamberth, Penn Noell, IV, Timmy Roberson, and Greg Wheeler.  

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace Cavel United Methodist Church, 313 Church Street, Roxboro, NC 27573.
