Oren William "Bill" Ferguson

OREN WILLIAM “BILL” FERGUSON, age 85, of 1211 Dover Street, Roxboro, NC died Tuesday night, February 16, 2021 at the Hock Family Pavilion.

Mr. Ferguson was born October 16, 1935 in Summers County, WV, son of the late Oren Roosevelt & Dorothy Irene Vandall Ferguson and was husband of 62 years to the late Elva Estus Stevens Ferguson.  He was an insurance agent retired from State Farm after 25 years, previously worked as a planning technician for Durham County, worked with BIMI Missions Board for 25 years, was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the US Army where he served during the Korean conflict. 

Surviving are two children, Vivian F. Keesling (Gary), Oren Stevens Ferguson (Judy Harris) all of Roxboro, NC, four grandchildren, Oren Matthew Ferguson (Shelley), Aaron G. Ferguson (Ashley), Laura Adams (Chris), Joshua Wilbourn (Jessica), eleven great grandchildren, two sisters, Drema Callison (George) of New Bern, NC, Karen Lilly (Ezra) of Ronceverte, WV, and brother-in-law, Jim Lilly of Jacksonville, FL. 

In addition to his parents and wife Mr. Ferguson is preceded in death by a sister, Gail F. Lilly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Frankie Reaves and the Rev. Chad Benefield officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Crawley, WV on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.  Those wishing to pay their respects may do so between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services.  

Pallbearers will be Jarrad Collier, Wayne Collier, Aaron Ferguson, Matthew Ferguson, Allen Wilbourn, and Joshua Wilbourn.  

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New Beginnings Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3192, Roxboro, NC 27573.
