Mildred Elaine Hatley

MILDRED ELAINE HATLEY, age 85, of 888 John Rogers Road, Hurdle Mills, NC and formerly of the Oak Hill Community in Lenoir, NC passed away Wednesday night, April 9, 2025 at her home. 

Ms. Hatley was born March 1, 1940 in Caldwell Co., NC, daughter of the late Paul Eugene & Mamie Ethel Hartley Hatley.  She was a life-long member of Cedar Valley United Methodist Church in Lenoir, NC.

Elaine graduated from Oak Hill High School in Lenoir, NC and later from Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, NC.  Upon graduating from college, she went to work in the medical records department at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC where she remained until her retirement.  She loved spending time with her cat Tuffy, and caring for any stray animal that she encountered.

Surviving are a brother, Paul Hatley & wife, Barbara of Hurdle Mills, NC, niece, Tammy Desper & husband, Dan of Midlothian, VA, nephews, Derick Jones & wife, Betty of Rougemont, NC, Jason Hatley & wife, Stacey of Roxboro, NC, and Jeromy Hatley of Hurdle Mills, NC.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Hatley is preceded in death by a sister & brother-in-law, Gail & Ronald Jones.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care and support of Amedisys Hospice and Laura Lewis.

The family will have a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.
