JOHNNIE MAYNARD PULLIAM, SR. age 90, of 755 Providence Road, Roxboro, NC died Tuesday morning, July 27, 2021 at the VA Medical Center.
Mr. Pulliam was born September 22, 1930 in Person County, NC, son of the late John William & Precious Jessie Gold Gravitte Pulliam and was husband of Gladys Elizabeth Trowbridge Pulliam who survives. He was retired from Woody Village Barber Shop, a member of Providence Baptist Church, and a veteran of the US Army where he served during the Korean Conflict.
Maynard enjoyed dancing, yard work, flower gardening, blue grass and country music, and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Cathey P. Steele & husband, Tony of Burlington, NC, Johnsie P. Perkins & husband, Marty of Roxboro, NC, three grandchildren, Anna Strader & husband, Drew, Shane Perkins & wife, Amanda, Caryn Long & fiancée, Ben Duncan, eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pulliam is preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Maynard Pulliam, Jr., four brothers, Bedford Pulliam, Clifton Pulliam, Mitchell Pulliam, David Pulliam, two sisters, Lucy Dixon, and Stacey Wilson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 1:30 till 3:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service and other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be Ben Duncan, Sonny Duncan, Ronald Hayes, Mark Sanford, Tony Steele, and Mickey Williams.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1319 Virgilina Road, Roxboro, NC 27573.
