Max Edward Reynolds

MAX EDWARD REYNOLDS age 84, a resident of Roxboro Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Roxboro, NC and formerly of Lenoir, NC died Wednesday afternoon, November 9, 2022.

Mr. Reynolds was born May 16, 1938 in Caldwell County, NC, son of the late John Reynolds & the late Edna Winkler Knootz and was husband of 40 years to the late Janice Marie Harris Reynolds.  He previously was a Lieutenant with the NC Prison System, was retired from the insurance industry, was a member of Oxford Baptist Church in Lenoir, NC, and was a veteran of the US Navy.

Max enjoyed horses, making stews, having people visit with him, and trips to the mountains where he enjoyed giving history lessons.

Surviving are a daughter, Janet R. Clayton, (Larry Terrell), three grandchildren, Jessica Dixon-Castle, James Clint Dixon, Jr., April Pauline Guerrero, four great grandchildren, Jaden Chance Blackard, Ariel Nicole Dixon, Gabriella Sue Dixon, Jacie Carol Gravitt, niece, Kay Hatfield & husband, Jerry, nephew, David Leonard & wife, Melissa, two great nieces, and a great nephew.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Reynolds is preceded in death by a daughter, Lura Reynolds Cormier, son, Joseph Michael Rudder, Sr., grandson, Joseph Michael Rudder, Jr., and sister, Avonelle Leonard.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November, 13, 2022 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Mike Whitt officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Life Independent Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 1:30 till 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Janet Clayton, 1413 Mackfieldson Road, Roxboro, NC. 

Pallbearers will be Hank Davis, James Clint Dixon, Sr., Justin Shotwell, Donnie Terrell, Elbert Terrell, and Larry Terrell, Jr.  Honorary pallbearer will be Mike Hawkins.
