Mattie Lee (Long) Wilson

MATTIE LEE LONG WILSON, age 94, of 238 Olive Branch Road, Roxboro, NC passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 30, 2024 at her home. 

Mrs. Wilson was born June 15, 1930 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Silas Carey & Dora Rebecca Stone Long and was wife of 37 years to the late John William Wilson, Jr.  She was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church where she sang in the choir until she was unable to do so.

Mattie enjoyed cooking, baking, and babysitting for other family members when needed.   

Surviving are a daughter, Connie W. Tatum, grandson, Scott Campbell, great-grandson, Noah Campbell, sister, Marie West, and a host of nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wilson is preceded in death by four sisters, Drucilla Long, Christine Long, Sadie “Peg” Lunsford, Eunice Pruitt, and brother, Rufus Long.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Olive Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Victor Blackwell officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home. 

Pallbearers will be Donnie Pruitt, Timmy Roberson, Wayne Rutledge, David Walker, Mike West, and Wendell Wilborn.
