Mary Katherine (O'Briant) Davis

Mary Katherine O’Briant Davis, 96, formerly of 239 Badger Circle, Roxboro, NC passed away on October 1, 2025. She had experienced declining health in the past few years and was most recently a resident of The Canterbury House in Roxboro.

She had worked as a school secretary, secretary for Person County Mental Health, and bank teller, but her favorite job was wife and mother to her beloved Edwin, Eddy and Terry. She was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church.

Mary Katherine was the widow of 64 years to Edwin Holt Davis, and she outlived both sons, Eddy Davis of Greenville and Terry Davis of the home. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Thelma O’Briant and sister to four siblings who preceded her in death: Faye White, Margaret Maurer, Henry O’Briant Jr., and Carolyn O’Briant. One brother survives her, Tom O’Briant of Priest River, Idaho. Other survivors include her daughter-in-law, Judy Davis of Ayden, her sister-in-law Josephine O’Briant of Summerville, SC, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Aside from her health, Mary Katherine suffered greatly grieving the loss of her loved ones and navigating this world without them. Numerous kind and loving caregivers, neighbors, church friends, volunteers and health professionals were there for her; they gave and gave. Their generosity, gentility and forbearance truly exemplify the spirit of this place.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Mike Moose officiating.  Burial will follow in the Burchwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 12:30 till 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
