Mary Ann (Mooney) Wagner

MARY ANN MOONEY WAGNER, age 79, of 1065 Lewis Winstead Loop Road, Roxboro, NC passed away Wednesday morning, January 8, 2025 at her home. 

Mrs. Wagner was born July 17, 1945 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Wiley Thomas & Eva Lee Briggs Mooney and was wife of nearly 61 years to Silas Hayes Wagner, Jr. who survives.  She was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. and was a member of Clement Baptist Church.

Mary enjoyed quilting, shopping with her sisters, camping, talking on the telephone, Christmas, and spending time with all of her family. 

Surviving in addition to her husband are two children, Winfred Wagner & wife, Paula, Wendy Oliver & husband, Rusty, four grandchildren, Jeffrey Hayes Wagner & wife, Jasmine, Brooke Wagner Nowell & husband, Chris, Maranda Oliver Burwell & husband, Marqus, Mackenzie Oliver Melton & husband, Caleb, ten great-grandchildren, two sisters, Betty Chandler & husband, Billy, Delosie Humphries, sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Stella W. Dickerson, JoAnne S. & Elie Hayeck, Mike & Patty Stevens, Mark & Nancy Stevens, Ralph & Kaye Tuck, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, and great-great nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wagner is preceded in death by four brothers, Wiley Thomas “W.T.” Mooney, Jr., Clinton William Mooney, Willie P. “Bill” Mooney, Ronald Lee Mooney, sister-in-law, Rosalind W. Melton & husband, Lawrence, and brothers-in-law, Wayne Dickerson, and Bruce Humphries.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2025 at Clement Baptist Church with the Rev. Glen Warren and the Rev. Rusty Oliver officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 1:00 till 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home. 

Pallbearers will be Marqus Burwell, Lance Chandler, Ryan Chandler, Caleb Melton, Clint Mooney, Greg Stevens, and Jeff Stevens.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Hamlett, John Hamlett, and Billy Mooney.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to Clement Baptist Church, 8480 Burlington Road, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541.
