Mary Frances (Whitt) Pulliam Bowes

MARY FRANCES WHITT PULLIAM BOWES, age 82, of Roxboro, NC died Thursday morning, September 19, 2024 at Duke Raleigh Hospital.

Mrs. Bowes was born January 6, 1942 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Perry Frank & Luvnniea Poole Whitt and was wife of the late Ellis Elton Pulliam and the late Elmer Merritt “Pete” Bowes.  She was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. and was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.

Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, watching old westerns, Blue Grass music, and her dog Snoopy.

Surviving are four sons, Jimmy Pulliam, Jerry Pulliam & wife, Kim, Danny Pulliam & wife, Liz, Keith Bowes & wife, Wendy, fourteen grandchildren, Brian, Stephanie, Danny, Ashley, Charles, Heather, Kristie, Denise, Joanna, Brandy, Brian, Sissy, Brooke, Colby, and Brandon, ten great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ella Redd, Betty Terrell, brother-in-law, James Pulliam, a host of nieces & nephews, and her fur baby, Snoopy. 

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Bowes is preceded in death by sisters, Christine Overby, Sally Davis, Rosetta Slaughter, and brothers, Romie Whitt, and Otha Whitt.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor David Bunch officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests from 1:00 till 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Ephesus Baptist Church, 1894 Ephesus Church Road, Semora, NC 27343.
