Mary Doris (Clarke) Oakes

MARY DORIS CLARKE OAKES, age 67, of Prospect Hill, NC went peacefully to her heavenly home Friday night, December 8, 2023 at Duke Regional Hospital with her sister, Lisa at her side.  Mary and Lisa had a great last talk, one that will be remembered forever.  Mary had a long rough road due to her health issues but she never complained and if you asked how she was doing, she would say “Oh, pretty good.”

Mrs. Oakes was born April 16, 1956 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late John Edward Clarke & Mary Margaret Dixon Rudd and was wife of Richard Aubrey “Junior” Oakes who survives.  She worked for IH Services for many, many years and had to quit due to kidney failure.  Mary was of the Baptist faith.

Mary was a character as anyone who knew her was aware.  She and Lisa were partners in many adventures that will be remembered for a very long time. Her favorite may have been the Amtrak ride with Cooper, Cody, and her sissy.  She loved with her whole heart and loved her family dearly.  Mary knew nothing but work, that was how she was raised.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Latasha Rose Munday Brad Scott), sister, Lisa Rudd Clayton (Jake), brother, John Clarke, grandchildren, Kaylee Rose Scott, Zachary Thomas Scott, nephew, Taylor Jordan Davis (Stephanie), niece, Cooper Williams (Cody Clayton), great nephew, Hayden James Clayton, and a host of cousins.

Upholding the request of Mary, no services are planned.
