Mary Abigail (Woody) Jacobs

MARY ABIGAIL WOODY JACOBS, age 93, of 67 Old US 501 Highway, Roxboro, NC died Monday morning, October 19, 2020 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Jacobs was born May 18, 1927 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Patrick Henry Woody, Sr. & Hattie Lillian Wilborn Woody and was wife of 58 years to Joseph Bailey Jacobs who survives.  She was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. and was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church for 81 years where she taught Sunday School for small children for a good number of years as well as the adult ladies’ class.  She also served as choir director for the youth choir as well as the adult choir.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Woody Jacobs & wife, Cindi, Chris Jacobs & wife, Kim all of Roxboro, NC, five grandchildren, Caleb Jacobs, Lendon Jacobs & wife, Maddie, Abigail Jacobs, Bailey Jacobs, William Jacobs, sister, Wiloree W. Johnson & husband, Sam, and sister-in-law, Gwen Woody. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jacobs is preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Henry Woody, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Bethel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Evans officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests Wednesday, October 21, from 1:30 till 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of Chris and Kim Jacobs, 457 Bethel Hill School Road, Roxboro, NC.

Pallbearers will be Cal Berryhill, Lynn Brandon, Bill Dunkley, Sammy Johnson, Clarence Lawson, Willie Skipper, Harry Watts, and George Woody.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial donations may be made to Bethel Hill Baptist Church, 201 Old US 501 Hwy., Roxboro, NC 27574.
