Mary Pauline (Chaney) Brandon

MARY CHANEY BRANDON, age 98, of 9455 Boston Road, Roxboro, NC passed away Thursday morning, October 3, 2024 at Person Memorial Hospital. 

Mrs. Brandon was born September 9, 1926 in Halifax County, VA, daughter of the late Benjamin Peter & Louetta Dance Chaney and was wife of 47 years to the late Harry C. Brandon.  She was a homemaker and was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church.

Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, going out to breakfast, helping others, spending time with her grandchildren, and she loved her church.   

Surviving are five children, Jerry Brandon of Roxboro, NC, Susan B. Stevens & husband, Joey of Morganton, NC, Lynn Brandon of Roxboro, NC, Randy Brandon & wife, Terri of South Boston, VA, Emily B. Hicks & husband, Roger of Oxford, NC, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Brandon is preceded in death by a sister, Lula Zickafoose, and brother, Howard Chaney.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Bethel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Alexander officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2024 at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services and other times at the home.

Pallbearers were Matthew Brandon, Kyle Brandon, Heath Norman, Mark Rogers, Scotty Pixley, and Kenneth Bowes.
