MR. LONNIE FRED LUXTON, JR., age 81, of 9618 Hampton Road, Rougemont, NC died Friday morning, December 18, 2020 at Duke University Hospital.
Mr. Luxton was born September 4, 1939 in Durham County, NC, son of the late Lonnie Fred Luxton, Sr. & the late Mandy Tilley Luxton and was husband of 59 years to Carol Ann Bowling Luxton who survives. Mr. Luxton was retired from farming which was his passion, previously worked for Monsanto in RTP for 15 years, was a veteran of the Army National Guard, and was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church.
Fred served on the Durham County Planning and Zoning Board, and was a member and former treasurer of the Durham County Farm Bureau.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Lonnie F. Luxton, III of Timberlake, NC, Tanya L. Clayton of Raleigh, NC, four grandchildren, Derek Lane Luxton, Blake Alan Luxton, Cyrus Craig Clayton, Benjamin Ethan Clayton, five great grandchildren, Naomi Clayton, Caleb Clayton, Noah Clayton, Ellie Mae Luxton, Levi Bruce Clayton, and sister, Sue L. Hodges & husband, Scottie of Bahama, NC.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Luxton is preceded in death by a sister, Julia Ann L. Hawkins.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020 in the Bowling Family Cemetery with Pastor Benjamin Clayton officiating. The family will receive friends and guests after the service and other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Clayton, Cyrus Clayton, Mike Hall, Blake Luxton, Derek Luxton and Johnny Parker.
