LESTER MARTIN NEATHERY, SR., age 74, of 281 Zadock Slaughter Road, Roxboro, NC passed away Monday afternoon, February 2, 2026 at his home. Born December 12, 1953 in Person County, NC, son of the late Earl Adams Neathery & Doris Myrtle Martin Neathery and was husband of 56 years to Barbara Ann Martin Neathery who survives. He was retired from Progress Energy after 22 years of service and farmed in his younger years. Lester was a member of the Roxboro Church of Christ.
Lester enjoyed making Bluegrass music, working on racecars, mechanicing, photographing old structures, going to Bible studies, spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and was a dog lover.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Lester Martin Neathery, Jr. & wife, Samantha, Adam M. Neathery & wife, Brandi, five grandchildren, Carla Neathery, Camryn Reaves, Raylen Reaves, Lanya Neathery, Ryder Neathery, three sisters, Linda Long, Alice Oakes, Angela Wallace & husband, Robbie, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Neathery is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Regan, and brother, John Thomas Neathery.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Minister Wayne Sinquefield officiating. Interment will be in the Leasburg Community Cemetery at a date to be determined. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Blalock, Casey Blalock, Chris Bowes, Michael Clift, Jr., Doug Long, Lewis Martin, Jonathan Neathery, Junior Oakes, Marvin Oakes, James Scott, II, Ashley Wallace, and Wesley Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Bowes, Scott Neathery, and Trae Wallace.
The family would like to thank the Person County EMS, first responders, and Amedisys Hospice for all of their care with Lester.
