Leland Clarence Wood

LELAND CLARENCE WOOD, age 94, of 1105 Fontaine Road, Roxboro, NC died Friday afternoon, March 3, 2023 at Duke University Hospital.

Mr. Wood was born February 25, 1929 in Dade County, FL, son of the late William Osborne & Edna Naomi Doll Wood and was husband of 69 years to the late Nancy Louise Gentry Wood.  He was retired from Florida Power & Light, was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, and was a veteran of the US Marines where he served during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Wood enjoyed golfing, fishing, his church, being involved with the Woodsdale Volunteer Fire Department, and spending time with his family.

Surviving are three sons, Steven Wood & wife, Zanah of Dover, DE, Michael Wood & wife, Tamian of Durham, NC, Gregory Wood of Roxboro, NC, nine grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Wood is preceded in death by a brother, William Osborne Wood, Jr.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Bethel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Alexander and the Rev. Robbie Dunn officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests from 1:00 till 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Hill Baptist Church, 201 Old US Hwy. 501, Roxboro, NC 27574.
