LAWRENCE RAY “LC” CLAYTON, age 55, of 533 Holly Springs Drive, Timberlake, NC died Thursday afternoon, August 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Clayton was born September 18, 1966 in Person County, NC, son of the late Macon Thomas & Alma Sue Long Clayton and was husband of nearly 30 years to Amanda “Mandy” Reaves Clayton who survives. He was employed with UNC Health System and was of the Baptist faith.
LC was an avid sportsman. He grew up playing sports including football, tennis, golf, and had a love for baseball attending college on a baseball scholarship. He also coached many young men in multiple sports. LC would always greet people with a smile that only he possessed. He was laidback and larger than life and enjoyed life to its fullest.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Brooke Clayton of Wilmington, NC, Drew Clayton of the home, brother, Rodney Clayton of Oxford, NC, niece, Riley Young, three nephews, Nicholas Young, Dillon Clayton, Brett Clayton, a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and a countless number of friends.
Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Dr. M. David Chambers officiating. The family will receive friends and guests anytime through the weekend at the home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Arrington, Jacob Barnhardt, Donald Bowes, Scott Clayton, Ronnie Maloney, Kendall Shaw, Rob Snow, Pat Solomon, Kelly Wallace, and Jamie Young.
