Kenneth "Kenny" Ray Kirby

KENNETH RAY “KENNY” KIRBY age 52, of 546 Brooks Road, Prospect Hill, NC died Friday evening, July 22, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Kirby was born June 21, 1970 in Durham County, NC, son of Billy Allen Kirby Jr, and Belinda Kay Modlin Kirby both of whom survive. He was a maintenance technician with Cambro and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Kirby was born and raised in Prospect Hill, NC, Served on the PHVFD for many years. The love of hunting and fishing could be heard in the tall tales spoken but mostly in that contagious smile after a good day on the water. Most days you could find him and Logan in the boat casting for that big one. When hunting season came in, he would be in the tree stand scoping out the big one. His kids, Bayleigh and Logan were his whole world. They were his pride and joy.

Surviving are two children, Logan Kirby, Bayleigh Kirby both of the home, two step-sons, Scotty Vandling, Bryson Vandling, sister, Kristy Kirby Sheppard & husband, Kevin of Prospect Hill, NC, brother, Allen Kirby of Balsam Grove, NC, nieces, Tiffany Baize & husband, Mark, of Anderson, NC, Brittany Luker and husband, Trevor, of Cullowhee, NC, nephew, Jeremy Sheppard & wife, Ashlyn, of Mebane, NC and seven great nieces and nephews whom he loved to visit him and share Mountain Dews with.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:30 pm, Monday, July 25, 2022 at the Kirby Family Farm, 352 Brooks Road, Prospect Hill, NC 27314 with Elder Jack Carter officiating. The family will receive friends and guests from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Michael Badges, Allen Kirby, Logan Kirby, Evan Moorefield, Jeremy Sheppard, and Kevin Sheppard.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prospect Hill Volunteer Fire Department, 116211 NC Hwy 86 South, Prospect Hill, NC 27314 or Community Home Care Hospice, 2730 Tucker Street, Suite 600, Burlington, NC 27215.
