Katie Lou (Stone) Rimmer

KATIE LOU STONE RIMMER, age 86, of 2353 Hurdle Mills Road, Roxboro, NC died Thursday night, September 28, 2023 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Rimmer was born July 8, 1937 in Caswell County, NC, daughter of the late George Ivy and Macie Bell Whitfield Stone, and was wife of the late Donald Lee Rimmer.  She was retired from Softex, Inc., and was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.

Katie enjoyed quilting, flowers, painting yard figurines, spending time with her family, and singing gospel songs.

Surviving are four children, Linda Stone of Roxboro, NC, Sharon Gail Bumstone and wife, Teresa, of Rickman, VA, Michael H. Hammock, and Lillian H. Hahn, both of Roxboro, NC, twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.  

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rimmer is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angela Dixon Roach, brothers, James Stone, Franklin Stone, Dennie Stone, sisters, Mary Sue Edwards, Bessie B. Bowes and Ella Miller. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Pastor Frankie Reaves officiating.   Interment will follow in the Brown-Hicks Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Saturday September 30, 2023 at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Atkins, Chris Carver, Sr., Chris Carver, Jr., Joseph Dunkley, Allen Hahn and Jimmy Hayden.   Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Bowes and Michael Chambers. 

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 11796, Charlotte, NC 28220.
