Joyce Ann (Lowery) Boyd

JOYCE ANN LOWERY BOYD, age 82, of 13013 Virgilina Road, Roxboro, NC died Monday morning, January 11, 2021 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Boyd was born December 4, 1938 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Dandie & Mary Cox Lowery and was wife of the late Lewis Carsby Boyd.  She was retired from farming and Burlington Mills and was a member of High View Baptist Church.  Joyce enjoyed softball, farming, gardening, canning and freezing, helping her neighbors, and was captain of her high school basketball team. 

Surviving are two children, Carl Boyd & wife, Cathy, Karen Whitfield & husband, Tim all of Roxboro, NC, four grandchildren, Terri Whitfield (Keith), Derek Whitfield (Courtney), Amy Newton (Terry), Blaine Duncan ( Kelly), three great grandchildren, Ethan Newton, Emmery Duncan, Madison Duncan, nephew, J.E. Tuck, and niece, Emily Talbott.

In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Boyd is preceded in death by a sister, Hannah Tuck, two brothers, John Lowery, Edward Lowery, and niece, Judy Griffin. 

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in the Virgilina Cemetery with the Rev. Avery Dalton officiating.  Those wishing to pay respects may do so from 9:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services.
