JOHNNIE WILLIAM WALKER, age 89, of 204 Lake Drive, Roxboro, NC passed away Wednesday night, May 22, 2024 at The Cantebury House.
Mr. Walker was born June 7, 1934 in Person County, NC, son of the late David William & Sallie Bowes Walker and was husband of 57 years to Mae Wrenn Walker who survives. He was retired from Tultex Mills, was of the Baptist faith, and was a veteran of the US Army where he served during the Korean Conflict.
Johnnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, tinkering on things, and keeping his bird houses up.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Kevin Walker & wife, Wendy of Roxboro, NC, Sandra W. Luihn & husband, Corey of Oregan, five grandchildren, Kole Walker, Chloe Walker, Bryanna Luihn, Lily Luihn, and Piper Luihn.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker is preceded in death by sisters, Millie Roberson, Maggie Roberson, Lois Wrenn, Rebecca Wade, and brothers, Clyde Walker, and Billy Walker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Patrick Sinclair officiating. Interment will follow in the Burchwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2024 at the funeral home and other times at the home of Kevin & Wendy Walker, 3469 McGhee’s Mill Road, Semora, NC.
Pallbearers will be Demsey Dunn, Ethan Dunn, Nathan Dunn, Bradley Regan, Joseph Walker, and Keith Wrenn.
