John Philip Platania

JOHN PHILIP PLATANIA, SR., age 84, of Roxboro, NC passed away Tuesday morning, September 16, 2025 at his home.

Born March 16, 1941 in Kings Co., NY, son of the late Mario & Lena Palilla Platania and was husband of 63 years to Arlene Marie Lang Platania who survives.  He was retired from Fernald.

John enjoyed golfing, woodworking, his job, motorcycles, cars, and trucks, and learning everything he could about engineering.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, John Platania, Jr. & wife, Lisa of Prospect Hill, NC, Jim Platania of Semora, NC, Joe Platania & wife, Michelle of Bethel, OH, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Carmella Ashbaugh & husband, Dave of Washington, DC.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Platania is preceded in death by a brother, Jim Platania.
