JOHN CLINTON LUNSFORD, age 67, of 2211 Pixley Pritchard Road, Timberlake, NC passed away Sunday evening, January 11, 2026 at Duke University Hospital. Born October 1, 1958 in Person Co., NC, son of the late William Hester “Jimmy” Lunsford, Sr. & the later Shirby Jean Owens Lunsford and was husband of nearly 42 years to Tina Marie Stone Lunsford who survives. He was retired from Piedmont Electric after 38 years of service, worked for Brann's Transport from 2013 till present, and worked for Thomas Family Farms, and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
John enjoyed motorcycles, drag racing, lawn & garden tractor pulls, camping, working on the farm, and he loved his job as a former lineman.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Autumn Marie Lunsford Roberson & husband, Ken, Suni Jeanne Lunsford, Joshua Clinton Lunsford & wife, Gabby, four grandchildren, John Carter Lunsford, Caden Ray Lunsford, Addyson Jane Pulliam, Eli William Lunsford, aunt, Nettie Ann Lunsford Hargis, his pet dogs, and a countless number of friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lunsford is preceded in death by a brother, William Hester Lunsford, Jr., uncle Elie Ray Hargis, and a number of grand dogs.
Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the L&L Farms Cemetery with the Rev. John Pritchard officiating. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services and other times at the home/shop.
Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends.
