"Joe" Joseph Bailey Jacobs

JOSEPH BAILEY “JOE” JACOBS, age 84, of 67 Old US 501, Roxboro, NC died Wednesday morning, January 27, 2021 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Jacobs was born June 24, 1936 in Person County, NC, son of the late Andrew & Maude Daniels Jacobs and was husband of 58 years to the late Mary Abigail Woody Jacobs.  He was retired as a self-employed barber, was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church, and a veteran of the US Army.  Joe enjoyed baseball, wood working in his shop, small engine repair, and mowing the grass. 

Surviving are two sons, Woody Jacobs & wife, Cindi, Chris Jacobs & wife, Kim all of Roxboro, NC, five grandchildren, Caleb Jacobs, Lendon Jacobs & wife, Maddie, Abigail Jacobs, Bailey Jacobs, and William Jacobs.

In addition to his parents and wife Mr. Jacobs is preceded in death by two brothers, John W. Jacobs, Harry “Bumpsy” Jacobs, three sisters, Helen Garrett, Peggy Newton, and Mary Frances Newton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 at Bethel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Evans officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the church.    

Pallbearers will be Clark Garrett, Phil Hart, Chris Mimms, Andy Newton, Daniel Taylor, and George Woody.  

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Hill Baptist Church, 201 Old US 501, Roxboro, NC 27574.
