JAMES HAMLETT “JIMMY” HOWERTON, age 83, of 121 Shady Hill Circle, Roxboro, NC died Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2022 at Duke Regional Hospital.
Mr. Howerton was born May 25, 1939 in Person County, NC, son of the late George Washington & Mary Ida Hubbard Howerton and was husband of nearly 52 years to Linda Painter Howerton who survives. He was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. after 40 years of service and was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
Jimmy enjoyed baseball, softball, fox & deer hunting, gardening with his sister, and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Rodney James Howerton & wife, Karen, Jamiee Howerton all of Roxboro, NC, three grandsons, Andrew Howerton, Matthew Howerton, Jalen Concepcion, brother, Maurice Howerton & wife, Rita, and sister, Margaret McAllister & husband, John.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Howerton is preceded in death by a brother, George Thomas Howerton, and sister, Frances Howerton Oakley.
Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Daniel Pantoja officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date in the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Woodsdale Hunting Club.
