JANICE CAROL “POLLY” SHOTWELL HAMLETT age 80, of Roxboro, NC passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, September 3, 2025 at the Hock Family Pavilion surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Hamlett was born November 13, 1944 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Johnnie Bernard & Janie Bett Regan Shotwell and was wife of 43 years to Ryland Moriel Hamlett who survives. She was retired from Piedmont Community College and was a member of Grace Cavel Methodist Church.
Polly enjoyed traveling, trips to the beach and mountains, shopping, playing the piano, her pets, and spending time with her family & friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two children, Denise Day (Rodney Campbell) of Roxboro, NC, Rodney Day & wife, Tracy of Laurinburg, NC, six grandchildren, Jessica Strader & husband, Wesley, John Hamlett, Justin Day, Jerri Tate, Jason Hamlett & wife, Caitlin, Phillip Day, three great-grandchildren, Hannah Evans, Christian Evans, Lucas Tate, step-daughter, Joellen Funk, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Hamlett.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hamlett is preceded in death by a step-son, Jamie Hamlett.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2025 in the Hope Church Mill Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Patrick Sinclair and the Rev. Rufus Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends and guests at the home.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Campbell, Christian Evans, Jason Hamlett, John Hamlett, Ronnie Maloney, and Wesley Strader.
