JAMES MELVIN “JIMMY” CLARK, age 79, of 5605 Novaglen Road, Durham, NC passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 2025 at Rose Manor Health & Rehab.
Mr. Clark was born December 22, 1945 in Durham County, NC, son of the late William Melvin & Ruby Isabel Pope Clark and was husband of 54 years to Janice Dare Whitfield Clark who survives. He was retired from the NC Department of Transportation after 30 years of service and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Jimmy enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and was an avid outdoorsman. He was most comfortable in a pair of khaki pants and a flannel shirt while listening to bluegrass music.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Rhonda C. Farmer & husband, Michael, James Andrew “Andy” Clark & wife, Jacquelyne, seven grandchildren, Abigail Farmer, Jacob “Jake” Farmer, Chloe Farmer, Jayvie Farmer, Ari Ruth Farmer, James Keegan Clark, and Winter Grace Clark
In addition to his parents, Mr. Clark is preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Clark Harris.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Rodney Hicks officiating. The family asks that those attending please dress casual like Jimmy would. Burial will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 10:30 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and on Saturday after the service from 3:00 p.m. until at the home.
Pallbearers will be Keegan Clark, Jake Farmer, Henry Dean Weaver, Jr., Bert Whitfield, Donnie Whitfield, and Ronnie Whitfield.
