"J.W." John Wayne Bowling

JOHN WAYNE “J.W.” BOWLING, age 59, of 892 Katmandu Drive, Roxboro, NC passed away Tuesday night, February 11, 2025 at Duke Regional Hospital. 

Mr. Bowling was born October 24, 1965 in Person County, NC, son of the late John Bradsher “J.B.” Bowling & Mary Amender Bowes Bowling who survives and was husband of 31 years to Kelly Anne Herrick Bowling who also survives.  He was a heavy equipment and small engine mechanic prior to becoming disabled and was of the Baptist faith.

J.W. enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his shop, restoring old cars, mowing the grass, listening to music of all kinds, and spending time with his grandkids.   

Surviving in addition to his mother and wife are three children, Tiffany Bowling (Angie), Cody Bowling (Jesse), John “Bocephus” Bowling, Jr. (Meghan), seven grandchildren, Allie O’Briant, Madison Duck, Kash Humphries, Kamryn Bowes, Tripp Bowling, Harley Hobgood, Mason Bowling, two sisters, April Bowling, Jenny Bowling, brother, Scott Bowling, special aunt, Peggy Bowling, sister-in-law, Theresa Bowes, and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his father Mr. Bowling is preceded in death by two daughters, Kristy Nicole Bowling, and Heather Anne Bowes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2025 at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Baker, Tyler Barts, Austin Bowes, Chris Bowes, Darrell Bowes, Rodney Bowes, Michael Bowling, Donnie Clayton, Jesse Hobgood, and Kevin Long.
