"J.C." James Cephus Lee

JAMES CEPHUS “J.C.” LEE, age 79, of 689 Stories Creek Road, Roxboro, NC passed away Saturday afternoon, June 22, 2024 at Person Memorial Hospital. 

Mr. Lee was born January 22, 1945 in Person County, NC, son of the late Rainey Archie & Suzanne Viccellio Lee and was husband of nearly 43 years to Judy Kay Bowling Lee who survives.  He was retired from Loxcreen, formerly worked at Collins & Aikman Corp., and was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, bus driver for the church functions, and a member of the Baptist Men’s Brotherhood.

J.C. enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, day trips to the mountains, cooking, helping with the church stews, watching NASCAR, girls fast-pitch softball, old westerns, The Andy Griffin Show, and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Pam L. Horton & husband, Rocky of Timberlake, NC, Kevin Long of Roxboro, NC, Tammy Blalock & husband, Greg of Hurdle Mills, NC, seven grandchildren, Alyssa Weygandt & husband, Daniel, Molly Fitzsimmons & husband, Kenny, Dean Horton, Tanner Mulchi, Jaycie Mulchi, Annie Stevenson & husband, Russ, Gracie Blalock, five great-grandchildren, Kennedy Weygandt, Tucker Weygandt, Georgia Fitzsimmons, Waylon Stevenson, Hazel Long, two brothers, Ellis Lee & wife, Susie, Ricky Lee & companion, Peggy Davis, special niece, Erica Clayton, and a host of other nieces & nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lee is preceded in death by a son, James Kevin Lee, and brother, Archie Lee.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Hal Dickerson, the Rev. Randy Pitman, and the Rev. Richard Rorrer officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 2:00 till 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Jackson Bowes, Michael Bowling, Donnie Clayton, Kenny Fitzsimmons, Anthony Lee, Stephen Lee, Robert Lynch, and Daniel Weygandt.  Honorary pallbearers will be Frankie Bowling, Perry Bray, Ronnie Henderson, and Rodney Lee.
