Hugh "Junior" Beam Reaves

HUGH BEAM “JUNIOR” REAVES age 81, of 1000 Carolina Ave., Virgilina, VA died Saturday night, June 5, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Reaves was born November 8, 1939 in Person County, NC, son of the late Luke & Laura Lowery Reaves and was husband of 13 years to Martha Gayle Pulliam Reaves. He was a self-employed handyman and was a member of the Roxboro Church of God.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Edna R. Turner, three step-children, Margaret Dunn (Bradley), David T. Yarboro (Donna), Herbert J. Yarboro (Marie), seventeen step-grandchildren, thirty step-great grandchildren, a step-great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Reaves is preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Marie Bowman Reaves, siblings, Estelle Wilson, Nancy Leonard, Alice Harris, Lula Mitchell, Elder Bryant Reaves, Doug Reaves, W.H. Reaves, step-son, Robert W. Yarborough, and step-daughter, Rose M. Yarborough.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Clayton, Dalton Enscoe, Frankie Gentry, Ronnie Leonard, Wayne Leonard, Ronnie Long, David A. Yarboro, and Doug Weaver.  Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Myers, Timothy Oliver, Jason Pulliam, and Bradley Weadon.
