Haywood Vernon Humphries

HAYWOOD VERNON HUMPHRIES, age 78, of 316-B Chapel Avenue, Claymont, DE died Saturday morning, February 4, 2023 at Petersburg Medical Center.

Mr. Humphries was born October 25, 1944 in Person County, NC, son of the late William Thomas & Lottie Whitlow Humphries and was husband of nearly 47 years to Deborah Ann Donovan Humphries who survives.  He was a carpenter retired from Carpenters Local 626.

Haywood enjoyed watching football and television in general and socializing.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Thomas Humphries & wife, Tonya Atkins, David Humphries, Brian Humphries, four grandchildren, Daniel Osaba, Tyler Vega, Venessa Humphries, Aubrey Humphries, five great grandchildren, brother, Douglas “Strawberry” Humphries & wife, Amy, and sister, Kay H. Melton.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Humphries is preceded in death by a brother, John Humphries.
