Hassel Randall Compton

HASSEL RANDALL COMPTON, age 81, of 621 Rachel Lane, Apt. 3, Roxboro, NC passed away Thursday night, June 1, 2023 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Compton was born November 15, 1941 in Person County, NC, son of the late William “Bill” Randall Compton, Jr. & Delma Sue Davis Compton, and was husband of nearly 36 years to Jean Kathleen Terrell Compton who survives.  He was a retired carpenter, was a member of Oak Grove Church, and was a veteran of the NC Army National Guard. 

Randall enjoyed NASCAR, listening to country and gospel music, watching westerns and playing softball and baseball in his younger years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Craig Compton of Roxboro, NC, Travis Compton of Raleigh, NC, two brothers, Charles T. Compton & wife, Doris, Cecil L. Compton & wife, Brenda, all of Roxboro, NC, granddaughter, Brittany Barnette & husband, Colton, great grandson, Ridge Barnette, two step-children, Suzanne Davis (Scott Hawkins), Charles Davis & wife, Jessica, five step-grandchildren, Kaylan Davis, Skye Hawkins, Brandi Hawkins, Kinley Davis, Presley Davis, and seven step-great grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Compton is preceded in death by a brother, Wade Jackson Compton. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday June 4, 2023 at Oak Grove Church with the Rev. Johnny Tucker officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home and at the home of Craig Compton, 76 Nora Poole Road, Roxboro, NC.

Pallbearers will be Stacey Compton, Todd Compton, Kaylan Davis, Ethan Dunn, Nathan Dunn, Scott Hawkins and Brock Wagner.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN  38148-0142.
