Gloria Jean Sykes

GLORIA JEAN SYKES, age 78, of 225 Michael Jones Road, Roxboro, NC died Saturday night, February 22, 2020 at the Hock Family Pavilion.

Ms. Sykes was born January 9, 1942 in Orange County, NC, daughter of the late Henry Winslow "Lowe" & Blanche Howard Squires Sykes.  Prior to its closing she worked at Hillsborough Textiles and later with the Person County Group Homes and was of the Methodist faith.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, painting, flowers, cardinals, the beach, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her companion, Michael L. Jones of the home, four children, Randy W. Medlin & wife, Debbie of Mebane, NC, Gloria Deloris Medlin (Mike Hosmer) of Yanceyville, NC, Jessica Williams & husband, Lee, Crystal Reina all of Roxboro, NC, four grandchildren, Heather Michelle Jones, Jordan Reina, Jewell Reina, Tripp Williams, sister, Carol Sykes Baker Thompson & husband, J.B., brother, Dan Sykes & wife, Marie all of Mebane, NC, and her pet Shih Tzu, Buttons.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Sykes is preceded in death by a son, Michael Edward Jones.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Mike Whitt officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
