Gerald Dale Hager

GERALD DALE HAGER age 78, of 15 Piney Lane, Leasburg, NC passed away Monday morning, November 29, 2021 at Duke University Hospital.

Mr. Hager was born May 7, 1943 in Allegany County, MD, son of the late Gerald James & Lola Pauline Unger Hager and was husband of 56 years to Geneva Thomas Hager who survives. He was retired from Progress Energy after 35 years of service, was owner of North American Turbine Services for 10 years, attended North Roxboro Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the US Navy where he served his basic training in Great Lakes, IL and served at the beginning of the Vietnam era. 

Mr. Hager enjoyed cars, fishing, camping, and being at the coast.  He was the world's best Papa and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, encouraging and cheering them on and being there for them anytime they needed him.  He graduated in 1961 from Beall High School in Frostburg, MD, attended Hoffman Aircraft Institute in Overland Park, KS, and Jet Propulsion Tech. in 1963, and  received his AS Degree in Industrial Management Technological from Piedmont Technical Institute in 1975.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Yvonne Michele Hager of Roxboro, NC, Stephanie Kaye Hager Wright & husband, Austin of Rocky Mount, NC, eight  grandchildren, Elijah Jude Hager, Benjamin Thomas Hager, Anna June Hager, William Thomas Wright, Matthew Dale Wright, Noah Daniel Reid, Brittany Anne Wright, Grace Catherine Wright, two brothers, Rev. Ronald L. Hager & wife, Jane of Bastian, VA, Gene Hager  & wife, Jeanne of  Tennessee, daughter-in-law, Wendie S. Hager of Roxboro, NC, and constant companion, Patty.

In addition to his parents Mr. Hager is preceded in death by a son, Rev. Brian Keith Hager.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021 at North Roxboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Durand officiating.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021 at North Roxboro Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Don Black, Noah Reid, Ricky Whitfield, Austin Wright, Matt Wright, and Will Wright. 

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association North Carolina Chapter, 4 North Blout Street, 2nd Floor, Raleigh, NC 27601.
