FRED LORMAN OAKLEY age 74, of Rougemont, NC passed away Wednesday night, April 22, 2026 at his home. Born November 7, 1951 in Person County, NC, son of the late Flint Talmadge Oakley and the late Stella Davis Oakley. He was retired from C.A. Dillon in Butner, was also a farmer, and was of the Baptist faith.
Fred was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved beach and mountain trips and visiting his friends and neighbors. After declining eye sight, he had Joyce Mckinney and Angela Reed Jones drive him to lunch and then to Walmart where he enjoyed greeting customers (for free) as they entered.
Surviving are two brothers, Talmadge Oakley, Bobby Oakley (Stephanie), two sisters, Jean O. Clayton (Bunnie), Doris Adcock, nephew, Jason Clayton, nieces, Tracy Adcock, Jenise Brann, Tammy Miller, and several great-nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Oakley is preceded in death by a brother, Winfred Oakley, nephew, Tommy Oakley and his dog, Boo Boo.
Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2026 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with John Hazel officiating. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:00 till 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of, Talmadge Oakley, 544 Highway 158 East, Rougemont, NC or Doris Adcock, 11111 Oxford Road, Rougemont, NC.
