"Fat" William Arch O'Briant

WILLIAM ARCH “FAT” O’BRIANT SR. age 97, of 61 O’Briant-Miller Road, Roxboro, NC died Friday morning, July 22, 2022 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mr. O’Briant was born February 22, 1925 in Person County, NC, son of the late John Beachum O’Briant & Hattie Suitt O’Briant and was husband of 67 years to the late Sue Harris O’Briant. He was retired from Longhurst Cotton Mills after 50 years of service as a fixer and was a member of North Roxboro Baptist Church.

Surviving are two children, Kim O. Solomon and husband, Mike, W.A. O’Briant Jr., all of Roxboro, N.C., five grandchildren, Tyler Solomon, Candise Wazeka, Meghan Melton & husband, Justin, Tabatha Purrinos and husband, Andy, Cameron Wilborn, four great-grandchildren, Jackson Solomon, Gavin Solomon, Miles Melton, Wells Melton and brother, Linwood O’Briant and wife, Ann.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. O’Briant is preceded in death by two sisters, Loma Humphries, Kathleen Coleman and a brother, George O’Briant Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 Monday, July 25, 2022 at North Roxboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Durand officiating.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the chuech and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Brent Carver, Derek Clayton, Gary Clayton, Darryl Duncan, Reed Marston, Justin Melton, Wayne Roberts and Jackson Solomon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Timmy Dunn, Andy Purrinos, Gavin Solomon and Mike Solomon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Roxboro Baptist Church General Fund, 115 School Street, Roxboro, NC 27573 or the Extended Care Unit, Person Memorial Hospital, 615 Ridge Road, Roxboro, NC 27573.
