EMILY SUE REDMAN BRIGGS, age 82, of Longhurst, NC passed away peacefully Monday night, October 20, 2025 at Person Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Briggs was born July 28, 1943 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late German William & Hallie Mae Carver Redman and was wife of Earl Daniel Briggs who survives. She was formerly employed with the Person County School System, TG&Y, Western Auto, Ceffo Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of Theresa Baptist Church where she was a member of the Golden Girls Sunday School Class, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Sue enjoyed teaching Sunday School, tending her flowers, visiting shut-ins, going on mission trips, cooking, birds and all wildlife, listening to Elvis, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are five children, Danny Briggs (Bonnie), Randy Briggs (Faye), Robin B. Warren (Larry), Andrew Briggs (Diane), Jason Briggs (Stephanie), eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marlene Loftis (Timmy), Marilyn Jeffers (Jeff), and a special niece, Vickie Chambers.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Briggs is preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Redman Long, two grandsons, Andrew Cale Briggs, and Randy Thomas Briggs, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Theresa Baptist Church with the Rev. Herbert Brown and the Rev. Ben Francis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services and other times at the home of Larry & Robin Warren, 1224 McGhees Mill Road, Roxboro, NC.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Briggs, Tyler Briggs, Wade Briggs, Tracy Chambers, Jack Long, Jr., and Kirk Redman. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hately, Adam Osbourne, Jason “Jay Bird” Terry, and Cale Walker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice, 3320 US 1 Highway, Suite B, Franklinton, NC 27525.
