Ellen (Hughes) Reaves

Ellen Hughes Reaves, age 80, of 60 Country Brooke Lane, Roxboro, NC passed away Tuesday morning, January 16, 2024 at Person Memorial Hospital. 

Mrs. Reaves was born June 5, 1943 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Howard V. Hughes and Ora Moorefield Hughes.   She was a paralegal of 50 years retired from Spears Law Firm, Durham, NC and was a member of Grace Cavel Methodist Church.

Ellen was a simple, classy lady and had a love and passion for life.   She loved to spend her weekends going dancing and enjoying music.  She loved animals and spending time with friends and family.   Ellen was loved by many and loved them in return.    

Surviving is her sister, Barbara Thomas, nieces, Beverly Ford, Lisa Thomas and husband, Steve, all of Roxboro, NC, and great-nephews, Tyler and Justin Thomas.  

Ellen will truly be missed by her dear friends, Vickie Culp and Monica Terry.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2024 at Person Memorial Cemetery with the Reverend Herbert Brown officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests at the graveside 30 minutes prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Person County Animal Protection Services, 2103 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
