Edward Matthew Martin

EDWARD MATTHEW MARTIN, age 88, of 120 Yarborough Street, Roxboro, NC passed away Monday evening, December 2, 2024 at his home. 

Mr. Martin was born December 15, 1935 in Halifax County, VA, son of the late Artie Raymond & Carrie Turner Martin and was husband of 54 years to the late Janie Vernell Roberson Martin.  He was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp., and was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Edward enjoyed working in his yard, his animals, working on cars, and visiting his neighbors.   

Surviving are two daughters, Teresa M. Spencer & husband, Tony, Tina M. Oakley, six grandchildren, Christy Smith & husband, James, Martin Spencer (Michelle Wiseman), Erika O. Bowers & husband, Jacob, Mandy Gonzalez & husband, Abel, Anna Martinez & husband, Freddie, Laura Garcia & husband, Pancho, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Martin is preceded in death by a son, Edward Todd Martin, and a brother, Huel Martin.

The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2024 at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services and other times at the home of Teresa & Tony Spencer, 570 Providence Road, Roxboro, NC.  The family will have a private graveside service at a later date. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Martinez, James Smith, Martin Spencer, Tony Spencer, and Aaron Trujillo.
