Earl Thomas Garrett

EARL THOMAS GARRETT, age 84, of 204 Berea Road, Rougemont, NC passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at his home.

Mr. Garrett was born March 31, 1939 in Person County, NC, son of the late Roy Lee and Ella Blanche Hill Garrett and was husband of nearly 31 years to Debra Jean Gentry Garrett who survives.  He was retired from Collins and Aikman, was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Earl enjoyed riding his motorcycle, having breakfast with his buddies, hanging out at Berea Store, NASCAR, old cars, listening to bluegrass, Elvis gospel and old country music. 

Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Stacy Garrett & wife, Sylvia, of Roxboro, NC, one brother, Harry Lee Garrett & wife, Patricia, of Greenwood, SC, two step-daughters, Jennifer Long Fulford & husband, Todd, of Timberlake, NC, Gina Long Mangum & husband, Jeff, of Rougemont, NC, one grandchild, Natalie Garrett, two step-grandchildren, Kailey Mangum and Kelcey Mangum, niece, Lisa Hartman, and nephew, Lowell Mullen. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Garrett is preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Lee Garrett and a sister, Peggy Mullen.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday June 7, 2023 in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with the Dr. M. David Chambers officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests at the home.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so Tuesday, June 6, from 1:00 till 4:00 p.m. and Wednesday, June 7, from 9:00 a.m. till noon at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services.
